Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Program at
Bolgatanga Senior High School

The International Women’s Hope Centre(IWHC) participated in a sexual and reproductive health rights program at Bolgatanga Senior High School, engaging over 600 female students. The session, led by IWHC volunteer Madam Mary Azika, addressed critical topics such as the risks of unsafe abortion, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and the consequences of teenage pregnancy. The presentation aimed to educate students about the dangers of these issues, given the rising cases of teen pregnancies and abortions in some senior high schools.
Using visual aids, Madam Azika illustrated the risks associated with STIs and unsafe abortions, emphasizing the importance of avoiding premarital sex. Additionally, Mr. Gerard Asigi a member of the IWHC team discussed the importance of making informed choices, personal growth, and commitment, highlighting how these values can shape students into responsible individuals.
The school administration expressed appreciation for IWHC’s efforts in providing valuable education to their students.
